It is not at all uncommon for NFL teams to make multiple roster moves during the preseason weeks, especially because they are still trying to figure out who will make the final roster.
Ahead of the Indianapolis Colts’ second preseason game, the team recently announced a couple of roster moves.
Among those moves, the team signed both defensive end Derek Rivers and wide receiver Greg Ward.
They also waived both safety Kendell Brooks and wide receiver Ethan Fernea.

Perhaps the most prominent name in this group is Greg Ward.
A former Super Bowl champion with the Philadelphia Eagles as a rookie, the former Houston Cougars quarterback has spent half of his professional career either on practice squads or in developmental leagues such as the AAF.
However, the 29-year-old did play in three seasons with the Eagles (2019-2021).
His best career season came in 2020 when he started 10 games and caught 53 passes for 419 yards and six touchdowns.
Now, he gets a new opportunity with head coach Shane Steichen and the Colts.
Rivers, 30, is about to enter his eighth NFL season (including years spent on the practice squad).
Also a former Super Bowl champion (with the New England Patriots in 2018), the 2017 third-round pick out of Youngstown State has 16 career total tackles and 3.5 sacks.
Time will tell to see if either of those guys can make the roster at the end of the preseason.
Brooks and Fernea, both former undrafted free agents, will now look for new opportunities on new teams after not being able to cut it in Indy.
