The Indianapolis Colts still have an outside shot at winning the AFC South, though they’re behind the Houston Texans in the division race.
Entering the 2024 NFL season, the Colts were thought to be intriguing playoff hopefuls because of the development of quarterback Anthony Richardson, but the offense as a whole has been underwhelming so far.
Head coach Shane Steichen has changed quarterbacks a couple of times this season, with Joe Flacco getting a chance over Richardson due to the latter’s inconsistency.
However, Richardson will start in Week 12 against the Detroit Lions, which could be another tough performance because the Lions are playing like the best team in the league.
Ahead of the matchup, the Colts announced a series of roster moves.
“We have activated DE Tyquan Lewis from the IR and waived DE Genard Avery. We have also elevated G Atonio Mafi to the active roster from the practice squad for #DETvsIND,” the team wrote on X.

Getting back Lewis could be a massive boost to the defensive line, as the pass rush has left much to be desired.
Lewis was placed on injured reserve after Week 4 due to an elbow injury but appears ready to return.
He might not play his usual allotment of snaps, considering he’s just returning from injury, but his presence up front might help slow down Detroit ever so slightly.
Defeating the Lions will be a tall task, so it’ll be interesting to see if the Colts can keep the game close or even pull off the upset.
