The Indianapolis Colts haven’t won a Week 1 game since 2014 and need to get off to a strong start this season as they open with a divisional rival, the defending AFC South champion Houston Texans.
In a quest to start 1-0 for the first time in a decade, the Colts made a pair of roster moves ahead of the season opener.
The Colts announced on X that they have elevated cornerback Chris Lammons and kicker Spencer Shrader to the active roster.

Lammons appeared in four games for the Colts last season. He began his NFL career in 2019 when he played 12 games for the Miami Dolphins before appearing in 30 games for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2020-22.
A rotational player throughout his career, he has 32 career tackles and one interception.
Shrader signed with the Colts this offseason as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Notre Dame and appeared in 57 college games with the Irish and the University of South Florida.
He converted 43 of 63 field goal attempts in college and was 15-for-22 for Notre Dame last year, in addition to going 61-for-62 on extra points.
Shrader was summoned because starting kicker Matt Gay is questionable for Week 1 due to a hernia that required surgery following the final preseason game.
Gay hasn’t been ruled out yet, so Shrader will serve as an insurance plan just in case.
Indianapolis finished 9-8 last season despite rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson suffering a season-ending shoulder injury early on, and the Colts will be hoping their young star can get them back to the postseason now that he is healthy.
