The Minnesota Vikings have themselves an interesting situation at quarterback coming up this offseason.
It looks like Sam Darnold, who is playing on a one-year deal, could be a franchise quarterback seeing as he was just voted to the Pro Bowl this year.
However, the team drafted quarterback J.J. McCarthy in the first round of the NFL Draft last offseason.
While the Vikings have to choose between the two, Fox Sports host Colin Cowherd believes the Vikings should trade McCarthy to the Seattle Seahawks.
“You need draft picks. Vikings don’t have any…Seattle’s drafting 18th. They need a quarterback…If I ran Seattle, John Schneider, I’d make the deal tomorrow,” Cowherd said Friday via “The Herd.”

Darnold appears to be the real deal in the right situation, and that situation is in Minnesota.
Minnesota also has to go with the hot hand because they cannot afford to abandon what is working with Darnold.
McCarthy has practiced with the team, but is yet to play in a regular season game due to a meniscus tear that he suffered in the preseason.
Throughout most of the season, Darnold has played like an elite signal-caller and looks to be worth every penny of a new deal.
Cowherd’s point about the team needing draft picks is also significant seeing as they could certainly use some more draft ammunition this offseason.
One thing for sure is that if Darnold takes this Vikings team on a magical playoff run, he could have his long-term future set up in the Twin Cities.
