The Detroit Lions are coming off one of the best seasons in franchise history, as they were able to reach the NFC Championship Game, only to fall short of their first Super Bowl when the San Francisco 49ers pulled off a second-half comeback.
Heading into the 2024 NFL season, many believed the Lions could go the distance this time around as the best team in the NFC, surpassing the 49ers and any other contenders in the conference.
Although the Lions lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2, they have been playing some great football this season.
Detroit was able to get the best of the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4, giving the Lions a 3-1 record heading into Week 5.
With the Lions playing well right now, FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd is making the case that veteran quarterback Jared Goff is not getting the credit he deserves.
“He is the most underrated player in the league, and there’s nothing close,” Cowherd said on “The Herd.”

In four games this season, Goff has 1,015 passing yards, five touchdown passes and four interceptions. Against the Seahawks, he went 18-for-18 in the passing game.
Four interceptions in four games isn’t ideal, but Goff is doing enough to make the Lions a legitimate threat in the NFC on a weekly basis, which bodes well for them to be the last team standing in the conference this season.
