Justin Herbert has been subject to criticism after the Los Angeles Chargers latest loss.
In a game that was said to be a shootout with the Dallas Cowboys, Herbert threw for 227 yards, two touchdowns, and one late-game interception.
After this game, many analysts and fans have started comparing him to quarterbacks like Kirk Cousins, also saying that his contract extension came too soon.
Amidst the noise, Colin Cowherd leaped to Herbert’s aid during a time of harsh commentary.
“I’m sorry folks, but he checks every box,” Cowherd said, adding, “This is what we do with quarterbacks.”

Before this game, Herbert was not a highly-discussed player, especially in this manner.
He was highlighted for his big arm and his ability to make plays for his team when called upon.
However, one down performance in a loss seemed to change the public opinion of him, a box that Cowherd does not fall into.
In this segment, Cowherd highlighted his top 10 quarterbacks in the NFL.
Herbert was fifth on his list, only behind Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and Trevor Lawrence.
One game does not make or break a young player’s career, and it certainly shouldn’t change the public opinion of them, at least in Cowherd’s eyes.
Herbert has been without one of his top receivers, Mike Williams over the past few weeks due to injury.
He is still working to get in sync with rookie Quinten Johnston and the rest of his offense that has dealt with injuries of their own.
