Much optimism revolved around the New York Giants entering the 2023 NFL season.
Last season, they returned to the NFC playoffs after not making it for five years.
They ended the season with a 9-7-1 record and even won a road playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card Round.
This year, they signed Daniel Jones to a long-term extension and got Saquon Barkley back on a one-year deal.
They also fortified their defense by giving Dexter Lawrence a massive extension.
But despite those commitments, the Giants are facing more questions than answers after their Week 3 Thursday Night Football loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
That said, Colin Cowherd doesn’t see them as a superior team to the New York Jets.
“They always look down at the Jets. No, you’re looking square at them,” Cowherd shared in a recent episode of FS1’s The Herd.

They are at 1-2 and have only scored 12 points in their losses.
Luckily, they pulled off an astounding victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
However, they did not look good for most of the game and came alive at the end, snatching the win.
Cowherd also pointed out Jones’ record during primetime games.
The former Duke standout has a 1-11 record in nationally televised matches, averaging only 194 yards and a 61.4 completion percentage per game.
Looking at these numbers, you can’t help but wonder why the Giants prioritized Jones’ contract over Barkley’s.
Worst yet, all their rivals in the NFC East are playing well as the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and Philadelphia Eagles have 2-0 records.
