Ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers decided to make another bold move to help change the franchise’s direction, with the team agreeing to a blockbuster trade with the Chicago Bears for the No. 1 overall pick.
As if trading superstar running back Christian McCaffrey during the 2022 campaign wasn’t bold enough, the Panthers decided now is the time to reshape the franchise and hopefully build the team back into a winner.
With the team acquiring the No. 1 over pick in the draft, the only move to make from then on out was to choose which quarterback they believed to be the best in a talented crop of quarterbacks coming out of the college game.
Ultimately, the team went with Bryce Young out of the University of Alabama, and so far, that choice has seemed to pay off for the franchise, as he’s been impressive in his short time with the team and has already earned the top spot on the quarterback depth chart.
Colin Cowherd of Fox Sports praised the team’s choice of getting Young under center immediately, as he is ready to show the NFL what he can do.
"Bryce Young is ready to play… Get him out there."

Usually, this is the path that teams take when they draft a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick, as they’re likely ready to lead the squad immediately.
There will be bumps in the road ahead for the Panthers, with Young bound to struggle at some point unless he’s a finished product already, which is highly unlikely.
All eyes will be on Young right out of the gate next season as the rest of the league watches to see if he’s the real deal.
