The San Francisco 49ers are in a position that many expected coming into the year.
It was evident that the 49ers had one of the best defenses in the league, and that they had one of the best groupings of skill-position players of any team in the NFL.
However, Brock Purdy was coming off a shoulder surgery, and many fans were unsure how he would perform after his injury.
He has played significantly better than expected, leading the 49ers to the Super Bowl and being an MVP candidate along the way.
Ahead of the big game, Christian McCaffrey was asked about Purdy, and what he has meant to the 49ers.
According to McCaffrey via the 49ers on NBCS, “He’s the leader of this team, everything starts with him.”

Purdy might have been a seventh-round draft pick in 2022, but at this point, his teammates don’t seem to care about that.
He has won over the locker room despite his youth and lack of experience, and it appears that all of the skill-position players around him are dialed in, ready to fight for their leader.
McCaffrey went on to talk about how “special” it is for Purdy to have this level of success in just his second NFL season.
Purdy is gearing up to be the 49ers quarterback for the foreseeable future, especially if he can help lead his team to their first ring since 1994.
The fanbase loves the story, and with everything stacked against Purdy to this point in his career, it’s hard not to root for the young QB.
