After a disappointing showing in the NBA playoffs, the Philadelphia 76ers are in a familiar situation this summer, with no telling what the future holds for the storied franchise and its superstar, Joel Embiid.
Along with clearly being a tier below the elite in the Eastern Conference, the 76ers have to deal with one of their star players wanting out during this offseason, as former NBA MVP James Harden has let it be known that he wants to be traded before next season.
Harden has made a lot of headlines over the last few months, with a lot of speculation linking him to wanting to play elsewhere, namely the Houston Rockets.
The consensus was that Harden would opt out of the last year of his deal and sign with the Rockets in free agency, but that didn’t happen as he chose to opt in and then force a trade, which has put general manager Daryl Morey in a difficult situation.
Chris Russo of ESPN is sick of the Morey and Harden duo, as he believes they’re both overrated and made his case on First Take.
.@MadDogUnleashed went off about the James Harden situation in Philly ?
"Both [Daryl Morey and James Harden] are so overrated. Enough of the combination." pic.twitter.com/bx2AEyYM8x

Although Russo was a bit over the top with his take, which comes as no surprise as that’s his thing, he isn’t wrong about Harden and Morey, as neither of them has done much of note in terms of success in the NBA.
Harden has proven time and time again that he’s not a winning player and seems to be a scorer that lights up the scoreboards during the regular season and vanishes in the postseason.
It’ll be interesting to see how this all pans out in Philadelphia and what the future holds for Harden and Morey once the dust settles.
