The Phoenix Suns are reportedly considering moving on from Chris Paul, but not because they want to, but because they may have to.
Paul is about to make a lot of money, and the new CBA will make it tough for teams to have several players with steep contracts.
Unless they find a trade partner for Deandre Ayton, they may have no choice but to waive Paul and hope to bring him back on a lesser deal.
And if you were to ask him, he’d be 100% committed to the idea, as he recently told the AZ Central that he “absolutely” wants to stay with the team.

Of course, should the Suns be forced to part ways with him, he’d still gauge some league-wide interest in free agency.
Multiple teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, and even San Antonio Spurs could be looking for a veteran point guard at a discount, and he’s one of the best there are in the game, even at this point in his career.
But the Suns should explore all avenues and exhaust all possibilities before pulling the plug on him.
They were up on the Denver Nuggets with him on the court and then could never get back in control once he pulled that hamstring.
There will always be injury concerns with Paul, especially at this age, but the Suns’ title window might close sooner rather than later, which is why they may have to take some risks to finally win that championship.
