The pass-first point guard is a dying breed in the NBA.
Chris Paul is the last old-school point guard in the game, a guy who’s going to play elite backcourt defense, crash passing lanes, rip the basketball in the post, and then set the table for other players.
Recently, the legendary point guard joined a very exclusive club.
Once again, his name will join the likes of John Stockton and Jason Kidd, as they’re now the only three players in NBA history to record at least 2,600 career steals (Via NBA Buzz).

Paul has a strong case for being considered the greatest point guard of all time.
While his assists and steals averages may not be as high as Stockton’s — and he’s definitely not as durable — he’s a much better defender, and he didn’t have one of the prime scorers in the game by his side throughout the course of his entire career.
There’s absolutely no doubt or debate that Chris Paul is a first-ballot Hall of Famer, even if he’s never able to win an NBA championship.
Hopefully, he’ll have another opportunity to win the ring he so deserves, as he’s been on the wrong end of some heartbreaking end to seasons.
That lack of postseason success is the only stain in an otherwise flawless résumé, but the fans still shouldn’t let ring culture dictate a player’s legacy.
