The Phoenix Suns were supposed to run away with the NBA championship this season after adding Kevin Durant, but they couldn’t get past the second round.
And while the team has shown signs of promise, their lack of depth has become an evident issue they need to address in the offseason.
Moreover, Chris Paul’s health has been a reason for concern way too often already, and the team could reportedly look to move on from him.
Should that be the case, then Kelly Iko of The Athletic reports that the league should keep an eye on the Houston Rockets as a potential landing spot for the veteran floor general.
If Chris Paul becomes available, the Houston Rockets could consider acquiring him, per @KellyIko pic.twitter.com/9rQu642Cg0

As crazy as it may seem — especially given his salary — the Rockets would make perfect sense for Paul.
They have a young core of players that haven’t exactly been a part of a winning culture, and his leadership and mentorship could help them reach new heights, just like it happened with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in Oklahoma City.
Moreover, the Rockets lack a true pass-first point guard, and Paul could be a stopgap in that position while they find someone to take the reins.
The Rockets have also been linked to James Harden, who already knows what it’s like to play next to Paul, and they were one win away from the NBA Finals when they were at their best.
Paul is no longer the superstar he once was, but he’d still be a major upgrade over most starting point guards in the league.
