The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who finished first in the NFC South this season, suffered a heart-wrenching playoff defeat in the wild-card round to the Washington Commanders on Sunday evening.
They could’ve used wide receiver Chris Godwin, who suffered a gruesome ankle injury in Week 7 versus the Baltimore Ravens and missed the rest of the season as a result.
But on Monday, Godwin had something to be very happy and excited about, as he and his wife announced the birth of their baby boy.

Godwin has been one of the Buccaneers’ top offensive threats ever since his rookie year in 2017, and he’s one of the remaining links to their Super Bowl championship-winning team in the 2020 season.
He was seemingly on pace to have a Pro Bowl-caliber season this year when he suffered his injury, and he finished with 50 catches, 576 yards and five touchdowns in seven games.
Sunday’s game between the Buccaneers and Commanders was a back-and-forth affair — the Commanders jumped ahead 10-3 just before halftime, but Tampa Bay quarterback Baker Mayfield found Mike Evans for a touchdown with 10 seconds to go before intermission.
They then went ahead in the third quarter, and after falling behind 20-17 in the fourth quarter, they tied the game before Washington QB Jayden Daniels led the game-winning drive in the final minutes.
While Tampa Bay needs some help on defense, they should still be a strong team next season, especially after they got another outstanding year from Mayfield and a strong rookie campaign from running back Bucky Irving.
