Now that the NBA offseason is officially begun for the Philadelphia 76ers, the attention turns to the immediate future of head coach Doc Rivers and whether superstar guard James Harden will opt into the final year of his contract with the team.
At this point in time, all signs point to Harden opting out of his contract and testing NBA free agency, with the Houston Rockets potentially being at the top of his list of potential suitors to sign him.
Another option for Harden might be with the Phoenix Suns and another potential reunion with fellow superstar Kevin Durant to form another super team.
The 76ers are not in control of the situation, as the team has to simply wait to see what Harden’s decision will be and if they are in his long-term plans, but Chris Broussard of Fox Sports believes the team should simply move on, as he’s proven he can’t get it done in the NBA playoffs via First Things First.
Should the 76ers want to keep James Harden?
"If he opts out, peace. We have a decade now of him coming up short in the biggest moments. I am not winning a championship with James Harden. … He's not really about winning it." — @Chris_Broussard pic.twitter.com/S3kwoigjwB

It’ll be an interesting NBA offseason, to say the least, for the 76ers, as the team could look drastically different next season, both at head coach and on the roster with or without Harden in the fold.
However, the pressure is on in Philadelphia to assemble a championship roster while still getting the best out of raining NBA MVP Joel Embiid.
The clock is ticking for the 76ers, as they want to make the best of Embiid’s prime with the team, but whether a championship roster can be put together is the real question moving forward.
