The Kansas City Chiefs are marching into their seventh straight AFC Championship Game, with Arrowhead Stadium once again serving as the backdrop for this crucial playoff matchup.
After posting an impressive 15-2 regular-season record and claiming the AFC’s top seed, the Chiefs dispatched the Houston Texans 23-14 in the Divisional Round.
As they prepare to face the Buffalo Bills for a spot in Super Bowl 59, however, some concerning news has emerged about their star quarterback.
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport revealed that Patrick Mahomes is managing an ankle injury ahead of Sunday’s championship clash.
While the three-time Super Bowl champion appeared on the injury report, there’s encouraging news – he participated fully in practice.
“#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was listed on the injury report with an ankle, but was a full participant,” Rapoport shared on X.

The ankle issue isn’t new for Mahomes, who has been playing through the discomfort without any major setbacks.
The timing of this news naturally raises some eyebrows as the Chiefs gear up for their crucial showdown with the Bills, but Mahomes’ full participation in practice suggests he’s ready for the challenge ahead.
The injury report also listed offensive guard Mike Caliendo, offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor, and cornerback Jaylen Watson.
The good news extends to this trio as well all three players were full participants in practice, indicating they should be available for Sunday’s game.
