The Kansas City Chiefs have everything in their favor to repeat as Super Bowl champions next season.
Most people think of them as the biggest offensive juggernaut in the game, even despite Eric Bieniemy’s departure to the Washington Commanders.
Of course, most of that has to do with the fact that Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and Travis Kelce are still in town.
But as hyped as their offense is — and rightfully so — we cannot ignore their defensive prowess either.
With that in mind, Chiefs defensive star Chris Jones took to Twitter to let it be known that he’s going after the highest honor for a player in his position next season: the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year award.

Notably, Jones was one of the frontrunners to take that distinction home last season, but it eventually went to Nick Bosa.
Jones is one of the most disruptive defensive forces in the league, an unblockable man always trying to wreak havoc at of the line of scrimmage and one of the best players at his position.
He might not steal most of the headlines because of Mahomes’ stellar play, but the Chiefs defense has been much better than advertised over the past couple of years.
And there’s no denying that Jones has all the physical and mental tools to fulfill that promise, especially if the Chiefs take a step forward and become as dominant on that side of the field as they’ve been when it’s the offense’s turn to take over.
