The Kansas City Chiefs are the reigning Super Bowl champions for the third time in the last five seasons, but they have some work to do this offseason if they are to continue earning rings in the near future.
They need to keep cornerback L’Jarius Sneed and pass rusher Chris Jones in order to solidify their chances of yet another world title during the 2024 season.
The Chiefs are reportedly preparing to use their franchise tag on Sneed, and general manager Brett Veach said the team will be meeting with Jones’ representatives very soon in order to get a long-term contract done, per Jonathan Jones.

The NFL’s salary cap will go up by a higher-than-expected amount of money for the new league year, and Veach said it will help.
The Chiefs, unlike in past years, won mainly with defense in 2023 — they finished second in both points and total yards allowed, and Jones was a big part of that.
He had 10.5 sacks, 29 quarterback hits, and 13 tackles for loss, which earned him his fifth straight Pro Bowl selection and second straight All-Pro First-Team nod.
Jones held out during training camp last summer looking for a long-term deal, and he eventually relented by agreeing to a one-year contract.
There is no question that keeping him in Kansas City is a high priority for the team, as it would be hard to replace what he brings.
Maintaining their excellent defense will give them an excellent shot at a fourth Super Bowl ring, especially given that quarterback Patrick Mahomes is early in his prime.
