The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a heartbreaking end to the season.
However, as much as some of their detractors might feel like they’re done, they’re not that far off.
They just lost in the Super Bowl, and most of their core players will return.
However, they still have to nail the NFL Draft.
Fortunately, GM Brett Veach has a solid track record in the event, and a lot of that has to do with asset management.
That’s why, when asked whether they would look to trade up, the Chiefs’ GM claimed that they would be ‘aggressive within reason’ (via Charles Goldman):
“Trading multiple picks to get one piece doesn’t make sense. If a guy we really like falls into the 20s, we’ll be aggressive within reason,” Veach said.

Several insiders and fans have expressed major concerns with the Chiefs’ offense, even when they were winning.
Blindside protection has been a glaring issue throughout the course of the Patrick Mahomes era, and that’s something they desperately need to address this time around.
One could also make a case for the team needing more firepower on offense, but they have a well-rounded team when they’re at full strength.
The Chiefs have won two Super Bowls in the last three years, and they were close to becoming the first team to win three in a row.
Mahomes will be back, and so will Travis Kelce, Andy Reid, Chris Jones, and Steve Spagnuolo.
They just need to make a couple of minor tweaks to get back to their winning ways, so there’s no need to get desperate and give up that many assets to get just one player.
