During the bulk of his NFL career with the Washington Commanders, defensive end and former No. 2 overall pick Chase Young was unable to prove his worth on the professional level because he simply wasn’t able to stay healthy.
When healthy and on the football field, Young is a game-changer on the defensive side of the football, as he shows flashes of why the Commanders selected him with such a high pick in 2020.
With the Commanders wanting to start from scratch with the new ownership group taking over before the 2023 campaign, Young was traded to the San Francisco 49ers during the season, which would give the young defensive end the chance to play on a legitimate title contender and make a name for himself once again.
Fortunately for Young, he was able to play 16 regular-season games during the 2023 campaign, resulting in 7.5 sacks, two passes defensed, and 17 solo tackles.
After Young showcased his skills, he has found a new home in the NFL, with the New Orleans Saints expected to sign him, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

It’s not all that surprising that Young didn’t end up returning to the 49ers, but he may have found the ideal landing spot with the Saints, with New Orleans taking pride in their play on the defensive side of the football and aiming to be dominant on defense moving forward.
If Young can stay healthy and productive, the Saints will have struck gold this offseason as they will have brought in a considerable upgrade on the defensive side of the football.
