For years, the Los Angeles Chargers‘ coaching situation was a talking point around the league.
They had more than enough talent on both sides of the field, yet it always felt like Brandon Staley was selling the team short when it mattered most.
That’s why the organization decided to go after a guy who has won at all levels and has made a name for himself as a culture-builder.
It didn’t take long before Jim Harbaugh proved that they had made the right decision, and while they didn’t go the distance in his first season in charge of the team, they’re clearly heading in the right direction.
Coach Harbaugh has already won over the locker room, and according to defensive star Khalil Mack, he’s all about the players.
Talking to Kay Adams on her “Up & Adams” show, Mack explained what has made his coach so special:
“Just knowing that [Jim Harbaugh’s] going to stick with you through whatever it is you’re going through on the field, off the field. He’s not gonna switch up. He’s gonna tell you what it is. He’s gonna tell you directly. It’s just one of those things that are very refreshing being a player. You want a relationship with your coach that can be like, ‘No, do it like this. Do it like that,’ and there ain’t no sugarcoating,” Mack said.

Harbaugh is a former player himself, so he knows how to connect and communicate with his athletes.
He knows what they’re going through and what it takes to find success in this league.
The Chargers are now one of the biggest dark horses to come out of the AFC this season.
They play in arguably the most competitive division in all of football, but they have more than enough resources to play spoiler and end the Kansas City Chiefs’ supremacy atop the AFC West.
And while Justin Herbert will be in the spotlight and asked to prove that he can beat winning teams, he can count on his coach to be there and guide him through the storm.
