The Boston Celtics are the heavy favorites to win this year’s NBA Championship because they’ve been the best team during the 2023-24 NBA season.
The Celtics are running away with the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference and have not shown many weaknesses throughout the year.
Their starting five is arguably the best unit in the league, while the role players have played consistently when called upon.
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown remain the best wing duo in the league and they shined in the first half of Boston’s home game against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.
Tatum and Brown scored relentlessly against the Warriors’ helpless defense while the rest of the Celtics followed their lead.
Boston went into halftime leading by a shocking score of 82-38 over Golden State, which set a franchise record, via Malika Andrews of ESPN.
“The Celtics’ 44 point lead over the Warriors at the break is their largest halftime lead in franchise history,” Andrews reported.

It’s rare to see Golden State look so vulnerable on the floor, but it goes to show how well Boston’s been playing as of late.
Brown also acknowledged that the matchup is more personal for him and the rest of the team because the Warriors beat them on their home floor in Game 6 of the 2022 NBA Finals.
Boston has worked hard to get back to the top of the league, and their showing against Golden State should be considered a warning to the rest of the league.
A fully healthy and motivated Celtics squad is a scary thought and they seem almost destined to capture the organization’s 18th title.
