Lots of things have gone wrong for the New York Yankees in 2023.
Injuries, star players underperforming, young hitters failing to develop, emotions, extended slumps, suspensions… you name it, and it has happened to the Yanks this season.
One of the key things setting the team back has been Carlos Rodon dealing with injuries.
They not only delayed his debut, but have made fans awfully impatient.
In his three stars as a Yankee to this point, Rodon has failed to deliver the expected production for a pitcher of his caliber.
In fact, he joined a rather unwanted group of Yankees pitchers in history with the output in his first three games.
“Carlos Rodón takes the mound for the Yankees tonight against the Mets, seeking his first win in pinstripes. Last time out, Rodón became the 4th Yankee pitcher to go 0-3 with an ERA over 7 in his first 3 games in the Bronx,” ESPN Stats & Info tweeted.

The left-hander’s ERA stands at 7.36 after 14.2 innings.
He is also winless, so he will try to break that ugly streak of losses against the New York Mets.
The sample size is really, really small, but it’s fair to say he hasn’t had the best of starts.
With time, he has the talent and ability to get into a groove and start resembling the pitcher New York signed to a lucrative six-year deal in the offseason.
After all, he posted a 2.88 ERA last season and a 2.37 mark in 2021, striking out well over a batter per inning on both occasions.
If the Yankees exercise patience, Rodon will eventually become more comfortable and show his best version.
That version is incredibly good.
