The St. Louis Cardinals will soon be headed to Europe to take on the Chicago Cubs in this year’s London Series.
However, the London Series won’t be nearly the last time that they experience such a moment at a unique venue.
Next season, the Redbirds will match up with the San Francisco Giants on June 20.
That game will be played at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama, which is the oldest professional ballpark in the United States.
Rickwood Field was home to the Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro Leagues.
MLB announced the news of next year’s big game, with Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch confirming the report on Twitter.
MLB officially announces the #stlcards–#SFGiants game at Rickwood Field for June 20, 2024.
It is scheduled around Juneteenth celebrations and will highlight the oldest professional ballpark in the U.S., right there in Birmingham, Ala.

The game will kick off a weekend series between the Cards and Giants.
This is an exciting development for MLB as the reach of the game continues to expand.
The Cardinals and Giants played each other twice this season, with San Francisco taking six of seven games against the Redbirds.
It will be the third time in the past six seasons that the Cardinals will have played in such a special location.
In 2019, they matched up against the Cincinnati Reds in the Monterrey, Mexico series.
They were set to play the Cubs in the London Series in 2020 before it was wiped off the schedule due to the pandemic.
This weekend, they’ll match up against their hated rivals in London.
But next season gives them and the Giants an opportunity to help expand the reach of the game and their fanbases as they face off against each other in such a historic location.
