The St. Louis Cardinals are slowly but surely fighting their way back into contention after a poor start to the season.
One of the key factors in their recent resurgence has been slugger Nolan Gorman.
The 23-year-old has busted out and put together some impressive numbers this season, securing the full-time designated hitter role for the team.
Last week, Gorman remained hot, hitting .458 with four home runs and 11 RBI.
That was enough to earn him an elite honor.
With his hot week, the young Cardinals slugger was given the National League Player of the Week Award.
On Twitter, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch provided the news.

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge won the award in the American League, sharing the honor with Gorman.
The young slugger has made some key adjustments this season and appears to be on pace for an All-Star campaign.
In 143 at-bats, Gorman owns a .301 batting average with 13 home runs, 39 RBI, and an OPS of 1.028.
Last season, the slugger hit just .226 and went deep 14 times.
However, things have changed for the 23-year-old, who has been carrying the Cardinals during this recent stretch of resurgence.
Gorman was selected in the first round of the 2018 draft out of O’Connor High School in Phoenix.
The Cardinals selected him with the No. 19 overall pick in the draft.
Gorman made his MLB debut last season in Pittsburgh.
Now, the slugger has become a fixture in the Cardinals lineup and is helping carry the team back into the race for the NL Central.
