On Monday, Willson Contreras made his return to Wrigley Field, but not as a member of the Chicago Cubs.
This time, he showed up donning the uniform of the Cubs’ arch rivals, the St. Louis Cardinals.
And the Cardinals served notice, taking the series opener by a final of 3-1.
It was Contreras who led the way, picking up two hits, including a go-ahead knock in the top of the sixth, which proved to be the difference in the game.
While Contreras stood on second base, he motioned for Cubs fans to boo him.
A certain Cardinals legend is accustomed to that.
On his Instagram story, Yadier Molina posted a screenshot of Contreras basking in the glory of the Wrigley Field jeers.

Most of Molina’s boos came from fans of the New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds, thanks to his high propensity for tormenting their teams.
But like Contreras, Molina loved every second of it.
The nine-time Gold Glove catcher and two-time World Series champion was instrumental in recruiting Contreras to St. Louis.
So far, despite the spin the Cardinals front office has put on it, Contreras’ Cardinals tenure has started off quite well.
The veteran slugger is hitting .273 with two home runs and 16 RBI in his first 121 at-bats.
His clutch hitting helped the Cardinals win their first series opener of the season and secure back-to-back wins for the first time since April 11-12.
And just as Molina did before him, Contreras enjoyed every second of the boos he received from Cubs fans.
Molina enjoyed it just as much as Contreras did by celebrating it on his Instagram story.
