2022 was a memorable season for the St. Louis Cardinals.
On top of winning 93 games and capturing their 13th NL Central crown, the team and their fans were treated to an epic farewell tour for team legends Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina.
The magical ride came to a screeching halt in the Wild Card Series when the Cardinals were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies.
But that didn’t take away from the magic fans experienced in 2022.
On Twitter, one fan recalled a touching moment from the team’s final regular season home game, when manager Oliver Marmol took out starter Adam Wainwright and sent both Pujols and Molina with him as the three Cardinals legends walked off the field together one last time.

At the time, it was not confirmed whether or not Wainwright would be returning in 2023.
For all Cardinals fans knew, it could have been the last time they had seen the veteran right-hander pitch.
Still, it was a touching moment that Cardinals fans got to enjoy that day.
Even after signing Willson Contreras, nobody will be able to fill Molina’s shoes.
The veteran backstop had been a cornerstone of the franchise since his arrival in 2004 and had controlled the pitching staff for 19 years.
Pujols may go down as the greatest right-handed hitter in baseball history.
He gave Cardinals fans a memorable second half that culminated in him hitting his 700th career home run.
As for Wainwright, the final chapter has yet to be written, but Cardinals fans hope he can close his career with one last World Series run.
