It hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for the St. Louis Cardinals to start the 2023 season.
The team is 5-7 and sits in fourth place in the NL Central.
However, they have won back-to-back games for the first time since Opening Weekend and have come to within three games of the first-place Milwaukee Brewers.
Last season in July, the Brewers held a three-game lead over the Cardinals in the NL Central.
One Cardinals fan decided to talk a little smack to the Brewers, who replied that they couldn’t hear him from three games back.
St. Louis ultimately won the division, meaning that the fan got the last laugh.
But with the Cardinals now three games back, one fan retweeted the Brewers post from last season and pointed out that the Cardinals are right within striking distance.

It’s still early in the season and so far, the Brewers have the edge over St. Louis.
This past weekend, Milwaukee took two out of three from the defending NL Central champions.
But it’s a long season.
At the end of last year, it was the Cardinals who couldn’t hear the Brewers from seven games back.
But with the Cardinals within three games of first place, this fan thought it would be a good time to bring up last year’s incident.
The Cards and Brewers don’t meet again until May 15.
That series will take place in St. Louis.
The Cardinals will hope for better results the second time around.
They’ll face the Brewers 10 more times this year.
