Cardinals Fan Comically Sums Up The State Of The Team

It was a Wednesday night to forget in St. Louis as the hometown St. Louis Cardinals imploded late against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Cardinals got a solid start out of Adam Wainwright, who went 5.1 innings without allowing a run before giving way to the bullpen.

St. Louis led 6-0 in the seventh inning, but that’s when the Dodgers began to chip away.

By the end of the night, the bullpen had fully collapsed, and the script had been completely flipped.

The Dodgers won by a final of 7-6.

Following the game, a Cardinals fan had a funny tweet to sum up the state of the bullpen.

I’m a:

🔘 Cardinals fan

🔘 a competent bullpen

Interested In: A Competent Bullpen

To be fair, the bullpen has been mostly good and has really picked up the slack left by the rotation.

The bullpen is clearly taxed.

But that doesn’t excuse them for blowing a 6-0 lead that late in the game, nor does it take the humor out of this fan’s tweet.

Every Cardinals fan wants a competent bullpen.

The main culprit of course has been Giovanny Gallegos.

All he had to do was get three outs and the Cards would have had a series win against the best team in the National League.

But it was not meant to be.

The bullpen is the reason the Cardinals lost that game.

Despite not going very deep, Wainwright pitched too well to not earn a win.

This is a team that desperately needs pitching help.

A starter at the deadline would help get them the innings they need and also take some of the pressure off of the already taxed bullpen.

But every Cardinals fan is feeling what this fan was feeling after last night’s epic collapse.
