Though they do not currently own the worst record in the National League, the 2023 season has not been a ton of fun for the St. Louis Cardinals.
They came into Wednesday’s game with a poor record of 31-43 and sit eight games out of first place, despite being picked by most to easily win the division title.
But ever since their series win over the New York Mets, things have looked a little bit differently.
With their win on Tuesday, they officially tied a season high in consecutive victories, winning their fourth straight.
On 101 ESPN, St. Louis’ local ESPN radio show, Cardinals analyst Brandon Kiley discussed how things appear to be trending upwards for the team.

Kiley noted that the vibes around the team appear to be better and even took a moment to point out the fact that manager Oli Marmol was smiling after Nolan Gorman made an impressive play at second base in their comeback win over the Washington Nationals.
He pointed out that in sports there are “energy givers” and “energy suckers,” the latter of which the Cardinals were referred to as.
Kiley also jokingly compared the team to the famous dementors from the Harry Potter franchise, who were known for extracting energy from people.
However, he did note that the Cardinals seem to be carrying themselves with more of a positive outlook and have better energy when they play.
As such, the Cardinals have won a few games in a row and are now playing with the confidence that has seemingly been lacking for much of the season.
