Even though he wasn’t a top-ten pick in the NBA Draft like some people expected, Cam Whitmore of the Houston Rockets is looking to make waves in his rookie year.
In a new video shared by NBACentral, the young player said which NBA stars inspired him and which ones he plays like.
He said that he originally modeled his game after Russell Westbrook but now compares his playing style to Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics.

Whitmore has yet to play in a regular-season game but his time in the Summer League shows that he has a lot of promise and skill.
He averaged 20.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 3 steals a night across his five games in the Summer League.
In his final game of the summer, he put up a strong 25 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks.
He impressed just about everyone during that time and that led to him winning the Summer League MVP.
That was a massive honor for Whitmore, who actually faced a rather embarrassing draft process just weeks before.
Many people expected him to be selected within the top five or ten players in June’s draft.
But in the end, he was the 20th overall pick, selected by the Rockets.
They saw Whitmore as a steal at the point in the draft while Whitmore saw the team as a chance at proving himself.
Questions about Whitmore’s health led to him sliding down in the draft.
But he was looking very healthy and very ready to play during the Summer League.
With the MVP trophy under his belt and a chip on his shoulder, Whitmore might be a breakout rookie in 2023-24.
