The NFL Draft is supposed to bring balance to the league.
It essentially rewards the worst teams in the league with the best prospects in college football.
If a team does things right in the NFL Draft, on paper, at least, they should be more competitive after a couple of years.
However, that’s not always the case.
We’ve seen countless teams remain at the bottom of the standings and struggle despite repeated opportunities to acquire generational players.
For Cam Newton, it all has to do with culture.
The former MVP joined Travis Hunter’s podcast and discussed his journey in the league.
Newton claimed that he experienced a culture shock when he first entered the league.
He realized that most games didn’t mean that much to many players.
He claimed that some of his teammates from his rookie season with the Carolina Panthers were ‘losers,’ adding that they didn’t even know how to prepare themselves.

Newton eventually helped build and develop a winning culture in Carolina, even leading them to the Super Bowl.
He was a superstar in college, taking a lesser-known program like Auburn to the biggest stage and defeating multiple powerhouses along the way.
Unfortunately, not all players are mentally strong enough or put in a situation to do something like what Newton did.
Also, being the No. 1 pick comes with plenty of pressure, and those who aren’t focused on what actually matters might struggle to live up to the hype.
