The Atlanta Falcons have been active during the NFL’s offseason thus far, signing many free agents to their roster.
They have made improvements on both sides of the ball, as they struggled in both areas during the 2022 season.
Recently, the Falcons signed Calais Campbell to a one-year, $7 million contract.
While this move was surprising to some, Campbell has revealed a few reasons why he made this decision.
In a recent press conference, Campbell noted “I feel like this defense can be a force,” and later, “I think this can be a very strong team.”

The Falcons finished the 2022 campaign with a 7-10 record.
Their offense was 19th in points scored per game, with 20.9.
On the other hand, their defense allowed the 10th most points per game, with 23.1.
By adding a veteran player like Campbell, the Falcons have made a commitment to growth within the organization.
Campbell recognized the Falcons’ young core during his press conference as well, citing “I feel like this team is young and poised,” and later, “I feel like we can really do some damage together.”
The Falcons’ core of young players includes Kyle Pitts, Drake London, Tyler Allegier, and Desmond Ridder.
If the Falcons are able to corral their young roster, they might be able to make a strong playoff run during the 2023 season.
Thankfully for the Falcons, the NFC South has opened up significantly considering Tom Brady is no longer on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Will the Falcons’ offseason additions be the spark they need to turn their organization around?
