Heading into the 2023 NFL Draft, some believed former Ohio State star C.J. Stroud was going to be selected with the No. 1 overall pick by the Carolina Panthers.
However, the Panthers went with former Alabama signal-caller Bryce Young instead, and so far this season, it looks like Stroud might have been the better choice.
Stroud and the Houston Texans will travel to take on Young and a winless Panthers team this upcoming Sunday in a Week 8 matchup.
On Wednesday, the Texans’ rookie quarterback shared how he thinks Young has been playing well this season, despite Carolina not being able to win a game yet (via James Roy on Twitter).
“I think [Young is] playing good, and I think he’ll continue to be great in this game because he has that swagger, and mentality, and that type of playing style.”

While he expressed his belief that Young has been playing well, Stroud has easily performed the best so far this season compared to all of the rookie quarterbacks that were drafted earlier this year.
In six games as Houston’s starting signal-caller, he has completed 59.6 percent of his passes for 1,660 yards, nine touchdowns, and just one interception, which has resulted in a 96.4 passer rating for the rookie.
With Stroud as their starter this season, the Texans and first-year head coach DeMeco Ryans are 3-3 heading into their Week 8 matchup against the Panthers.
Houston already having three wins this year has been a bit of a surprise to some, but Stroud has been able to step right in and help the Texans have one of the best passing offenses in the entire NFL (currently fifth in passing yards).
Will the rookie quarterback and the rest of Houston’s talented passing offense lead to the team getting a win over Carolina on Sunday?
