Back in April, the Houston Texans decided to use their first of two first-round selections in the 2023 NFL Draft on former Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud.
As such a high selection, the expectations for Stroud, even as a rookie, were expected to be lofty for the 2023 season.
So far, the Texans’ rookie quarterback is off to an impressive start, and he was recently given an honor that recognized how well he has performed during Houston’s first three games of the 2023 campaign by being named Offensive Rookie of the Month.

Stroud threw for less than 250 yards and no touchdowns while getting sacked five times in the very first start of his NFL career back in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens.
After that game, some were a little bit concerned about how much of an impact the young quarterback could have on the Texans as a rookie.
But during his last two matchups, Stroud has completed 64.9 percent of his passes and he’s averaged 332 passing yards per contest while throwing for four touchdowns and no interceptions.
Overall, Houston is sitting with a 1-2 record heading into their Week 4 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
At the very least, however, the Texans and their fans have to be excited about the potential that Stroud has already been able to display out on the field.
Currently, Houston’s rookie signal-caller is on pace to throw for more than 5,000 yards and 20 touchdowns this season, which would be incredible numbers for a first-year quarterback.
Things ended poorly for the Texans and Deshaun Watson, and it’s still early, but the organization seems to have potentially landed their next franchise quarterback in Stroud.
