Watching NBA players take the court at ProAm leagues has always been a tradition.
Even legends like Kobe Bryant have suited up at least once to showcase their talents in front of those who may not be able to afford to pay to watch them live in an NBA game.
Notably, DeMar DeRozan has often partaken in those kinds of games, staying close to his community and never forgetting where he came from.
That’s why it wasn’t a surprise to see the Chicago Bulls star pulling up to light things up at the Drew League in his hometown of Compton, California.

DeRozan’s upbringing was one for the ages.
He grew up among gangs and violence, making a name for himself in one of the nation’s most dangerous environments.
He became the prodigal son, and the community came together to root for him and keep him safe, and he’s always represented Compton with great pride since he entered the league.
DeRozan has always been a humble and down-to-Earth kind of guy and someone who makes sure to give back and be thankful to those who watched him grow and develop into the perennial All-Star candidate he’s been.
Getting the chance to watch a legit NBA star playing right in front of you is always a huge inspiration for young hoopers, and props to NBA players for taking time out of their busy schedules and risking injury just to continue inspiring and motivating those who may not be able to watch them again in their lifetimes.
