The Tampa Bay Buccaneers couldn’t close out the NFL season on a high note.
They won the NFC South but failed to defend their turf in the playoffs against the Washington Commanders.
Nonetheless, Mike Evans had a very productive season.
The veteran wide receiver again finished the campaign with more than 1,000 receiving yards, tying the legendary Jerry Rice for the most consecutive seasons doing so in NFL history (11).
However, Evans knows he’s not getting any younger, which is why he talked about his future at the 2025 Pro Bowl Games.
“Mike Evans says the Pro Bowl (flag football) game will be good practice for him because if he’s retired by 2028, he would like to play the sport for the U.S. Olympic team,” Evans said, via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

Evans has shown no signs of slowing down and signed a new contract before this season, so there’s no reason to believe he won’t continue to be successful in 2028.
Then again, even if that’s the case, that raises another debate.
On the one hand, no one can deny that the NFL features nothing but the best in the world of football.
On the other hand, there is already a U.S. flag football team, and those players have earned the right to represent the country at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Just because NFL players are better at tackle football doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be better at flag football.
Whatever the case, the Olympic committee will have to cross that bridge when it gets there.
