The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a tough job coming into this NFL offseason after legendary quarterback Tom Brady announced that he was retiring from the game after over two decades of service.
Although there was a lot of speculation about Brady’s intentions to keep playing, he didn’t take long to shut those rumors down after the 2022 campaign came to an end, with a short and sweet video on the beach to let people know he was officially done playing in the NFL.
This meant the search was on for the Buccaneers to find Brady’s successor, which is an impossible task but something that had to be done even if they could not get another superstar to replace him.
Ultimately, the team brought in veteran journeyman Baker Mayfield to compete with young quarterback Kyle Trask for the job.
Despite Trask not making it easy for Mayfield to get another starting gig in the NFL, the veteran eventually was given the nod and will start Week 1 for Tampa Bay, prompting this hype video from the team’s Twitter account.

The pressure to succeed is officially on for Mayfield as he has been given the ideal opportunity to resurrect his career in the league after some forgettable stints with the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and Los Angeles Rams.
Mayfield’s short stint with the Rams wasn’t a total loss, as his play in Los Angeles likely drew the attention of the Buccaneers, but he’ll hope for more success in Tampa Bay with a lot more weapons at his disposal.
