Tom Brady restored order when he ended his 40-day retirement to rejoin the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
His stats last year were not an indication of a quarterback that’s slowing down.
But as great as the seven-time Super Bowl champion is, the Buccaneers still need a backup at the position.
Enter Blaine Gabbert, who has been part of the team longer than Brady.
For the 2022 season, he will remain as the second quarterback on the depth chart after agreeing to return to Tampa Bay.
The terms of his contract haven’t been disclosed as of writing.
But he did announce his return through the Buccaneers’ official Twitter account.

Gabbert said, “Hey Bucs fans, it’s Blaine Gabbert. Happy to be back for 2022. Go Bucs! Let’s have some fun.”
However, Bucs fans hope that he won’t have much playing time.
It’s not that he’s not capable of leading the team to victory.
But between Brady and Gabbert, who would Tampa Bay fans rather have under center?
A Veteran Journeyman
Gabbert was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
After three seasons, he suited up for the San Francisco 49ers.
He also lasted three seasons in California, mainly as Colin Kaepernick‘s backup.
From there, he signed a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals.
Before joining the Buccaneers, Gabbert played one season with the Tennessee Titans.
Signing with Tampa Bay reunited him with Bruce Arians, his head coach in Arizona.
That decision proved to be great as Gabbert won Super Bowl LV with the Buccaneers.
As of the 2021 season, he has 9.262 yards and 50 touchdowns.
He also has 643 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Aside from him, Kyle Trask and Ryan Griffin are also part of the Buccaneers’ quarterback depth chart.
