The Tampa Bay Buccaneers headed into the NFL offseason with perhaps the toughest task of any team in the league, as they had to replace arguably the greatest quarterback and player ever to play the game, Tom Brady.
Although there was a lot of speculation about Brady’s future and his plans to potentially continue playing in the NFL, the seven-time Super Bowl champion chose to call it a career after over two decades of dominating the game he loves.
This obviously put the Buccaneers brass in a very tough situation as they had to figure out who was going to be Brady’s successor in Tampa Bay.
Even though this is an impossible task, as no other quarterback can really replace Brady, the team didn’t take long before finding a viable option in veteran journeyman Baker Mayfield.
However, Mayfield had to go through a quarterback competition during training camp with Kyle Trask, meaning his job as the starter wasn’t set in stone.
Eventually, Mayfield earned the job as the starter for the Buccaneers, and offensive coordinator Dave Canales couldn’t be happier about the decision to go with the former No. 1 overall pick, according to Kevin Patra of NFL.com via Around The NFL.

The real question now is whether Canales and company made the right decision to go with Mayfield over Trask and if this team can make some noise in the NFC during the 2023 NFL season.
Even though Brady is no longer taking snaps under center in Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers still have a talented offense and are capable of making a run at a playoff spot this season.
