Bryce Young’s start to the 2024 season has been rough, to say the least.
The Carolina Panthers quarterback’s statistics tell a stark tale: 245 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and three interceptions through two games.
These lackluster performances led to his benching in favor of veteran Andy Dalton after consecutive lopsided losses.
Despite this setback, the Panthers remain committed to Young’s development as their franchise quarterback.
Even Young himself has acknowledged his shortcomings showing maturity beyond his years.
In a recent locker room interview captured by WCNC’s Nick Carboni, Young offered a classy assessment of his situation.
“There’s a long list of things I wish were better,” Young admitted. “I’ll continue to work, grow, and improve. Everyone has circumstances. If I had played better and won games, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.”
I asked Bryce Young if he thought he was given enough time by the #Panthers:
"Every snap hit my hands, and I didn't do enough with it …I'm always going to look in the mirror…if I went out there and played better and we won games we wouldn't be having this conversation." pic.twitter.com/3jjdcNAqSD

He further emphasized, “At the end of the day, it falls on me.”
Young’s self-awareness extends to his overall performance with the Panthers. His record stands at 2-16 in 18 starts, with a 59.3% completion rate, 3,122 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
The current season’s statistics are particularly underwhelming, leading to his current position on the sidelines.
However, it’s crucial to note that Carolina isn’t considering trading Young.
The Panthers view this period as an opportunity for their young quarterback to observe and learn from Dalton, a seasoned NFL veteran.
