Many MLB teams do not have the luxury to spend large sums of money on players.
When you look across the baseball landscape you see “rich” teams and “poor” teams.
The rich teams do their best to sign the top free agents each offseason.
While the poor teams hope to draft and develop a team that is good enough to compete.
The Philadelphia Phillies have been one team that is not afraid to spend.
Over the past five seasons, they have been building a team that can win a World Series.
That team has been on full display during the playoffs.
Bryce Harper, Zack Wheeler, Nick Castellanos, and Trea Turner are the four huge names they signed in free agency.
Each of them has been dominant so far in the playoffs.
According to Jon Morosi, Bryce Harper talked to Matt Winer after Game 4 about the importance of spending.
When referring to Castellanos and Turner, Harper said: “That’s why you spend the money, baby.”
In speaking with @MattWinerTV postgame, Bryce Harper mentioned home runs by free-agent signees Nick Castellanos and Trea Turner.
"That's why you spend the money, baby," Harper said.

We have seen in the past that paying for players does not always work out.
But it has worked out for the Phillies.
Each of their contracts looks like a steal for the team thanks to the production from each player.
Harper was the first domino that made this all happen.
Without him signing with the Phillies in the offseason of 2019, they would probably not be in this position.
But the addition of Harper showed many of free agents that this is the place to be.
Now the Phillies and their fans get the pleasure of watching this loaded roster compete for another World Championship.
