Quarterback Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers are on very, very thin ice after falling at home to the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night.
Purdy did not play his best, completing just 14 of 31 passes for 142 yards and an interception.
The Pro Bowl quarterback talked about his performance after the loss in front of the San Francisco media.
“That’s what’s hurting me. I feel like I failed the team. I could’ve been better for our offense,” Purdy said in the postgame presser.

To be fair, Purdy was without three of his best offensive pieces in All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey, All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams, and 1,000-yard receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
Still, his performance with Matthew Stafford on the other side of the field just wasn’t good enough.
The 2023 league leader in passer rating has had a disappointing 2024 season.
He has thrown 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions for a QBR of just 64.9.
This does not look like the same Brock Purdy who guided the 49ers to a record of 21-6 across his first 27 career starts (including playoffs).
Again, being without many of your top offensive weapons would likely hurt any great quarterback, and the 49ers have long had to deal with injuries.
But this is the NFL, and you must find a way through regardless of the circumstances.
Purdy and San Francisco have not been able to do that this season enough times to earn the right to go to the playoffs.
