The Miami Heat are coming off their second Cinderella trip to the NBA Finals in four seasons.
It ended with a five-game loss to the Denver Nuggets, but it left them with a great deal of respect across the league.
The talk all throughout the summer has been a potential trade with the Portland Trail Blazers for Damian Lillard, but there has apparently been no progress made on that front.
One player rumored to be included in any potential package for Lillard is incoming second-year player Nikola Jovic, but Brian Windhorst says Heat fans should consider him to be much more than a complementary piece thrown into any deal that would send Lillard to South Florida, via NBACentral and Naveen Ganglani.
Brian Windhorst believes fans should be paying more attention to Nikola Jovic
"There's a lot of Heat fans that just want to throw him in a trade for Dame Lillard… they might not feel that way after they watch him play maybe in the preseason or early season." 👀

Some basketball junkies feel Jovic has the potential to become a viable NBA player, and it has nothing to do with the fact that he has almost the exact same name as reigning NBA Finals MVP Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets.
He didn’t produce much as a rookie last season, but he did show promise the season prior while playing for Mega Basket, a pro basketball team located in Belgrade, the capital of his native Serbia.
The Heat could certainly use a strong season from Jovic, as they have a lack of productive frontcourt players and big men and a lack of functional size in general.
