Before Thursday night’s Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Commissioner Adam Silver spoke with the press about a number of basketball-related subjects.
One of those subjects was the future of Ja Morant.
The Memphis Grizzlies star is in very hot water after another video of him brandishing a firearm popped up online a few weeks ago.
Everyone is waiting to learn the punishment he receives and Silver said that one was coming soon, after the Finals.
Brian Windhorst joined Friday’s edition of Get Up to discuss what could be happening to Morant and it doesn’t sound good for the young player.
“The indication here is that this is going to be a significant suspension,” Windhorst said.

Silver refused to touch upon the length of the upcoming suspension but many analysts believe that it is going to be a long one.
The idea of Morant missing at least half of the upcoming season isn’t far-fetched at all.
Windhorst said that Silver expects a very big reaction when the “significant” suspension is announced and that is why he doesn’t want to reveal it until after the Finals conclude.
That means that within a few weeks, we will know Morant’s fate.
There is practically no way that he will be with his team when the 2023-24 season begins in the fall.
Morant is a terrifically talented star, one of the best and most promising in the league, and his absence will hurt the Grizzlies.
He has put himself and his team in severe jeopardy with his actions off the court.
Now he is on the verge of receiving a suspension that may end up being historic for the league.
