The Cleveland Cavaliers became the team of the moment for a couple of hours.
A shocking report stated that they were looking forward to trading young star Darius Garland, and some people thought Brian Windhorst had called it when he talked about some “outlandish” rumors he heard from within the team.
That’s why the ESPN insider took to the radio to clear the air and let it be known that the team has no intention whatsoever of moving either Garland or Donovan Mitchell, urging everyone to just relax a little bit.
"First off, the Cavs are not trading Darius Garland, they're not trading Donovan Mitchell," – @WindhorstESPN came back on to calm everyone down 🤣 pic.twitter.com/JFqNRq2N7j

Windhorst did report that there were some wild rumors about a potential trade, so it’s nice for fans to see that those rumors don’t involve Garland.
Truth be told, it would be hard to envision any scenario in which the Cavs would feel ok by letting Garland go, and not many players would be an upgrade for their current roster right now.
It’s true that the Cavs still need to add another piece, most likely a small forward, to be considered a legit championship contender.
But losing Garland would only set them back, especially with Donovan Mitchell set to become an unrestricted free agent two years from now.
Garland has broken out as a borderline All-Star player and he’s just 23 years old, which is why the fans were shocked and infuriated when they thought he was actually up for grabs.
As for the rumors Windhorst has been hearing, it seems like we’ll just have to wait and see what goes down — or not — in The Land.
