This could be the end of the line for the Golden State Warriors as we know them.
Bob Myers’ departure might have serious consequences down the road, as the new GM may not have ties to the dynasty and will be more tempted to pull the plug on it before it’s too late.
According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the future of the Warriors and their current payroll may have had plenty to do with Myers’ decision to walk away at this moment.
Is this the end of the Warriors' dynasty? @WindhorstESPN
"Bob Myers is not re-signing. Draymond Green has a contract option out that he could take. … Then you have Steve Kerr entering the final year of his contract. … Klay Thompson entering that last year of his contract." pic.twitter.com/uIY4gvmdW9

He cites the fact that they weren’t able to reach an agreement on a contract extension with Steve Kerr, who’ll enter the final year of his deal.
Windhorst also cited that the Warriors will have to deal with Draymond Green’s desire to sign a new contract, not to mention Klay Thompson’s impending extension as well.
The Dubs could be looking at a payroll of nearly $500 million next season, assuming Green agrees to take a pay cut.
Notably, Windhorst says that he’s not sure that they’re a team that’s worth that much after watching them struggle throughout the course of the regular season before being bounced in the second round as the No. 6 seed.
Last but not least, they’ll also have to deal with Jordan Poole’s massive deal and Jonathan Kuminga’s alleged desire to be traded, so good luck to whoever’s brave enough to take that GM position in the Bay to try and fix this mess.
Otherwise, we could be looking at the end of the dynasty.
