The Dallas Cowboys have found their new leader in Brian Schottenheimer, who was named head coach after serving two years as their offensive coordinator.
Schottenheimer fills the vacancy left by Mike McCarthy.
Despite McCarthy’s impressive run of three straight 12-5 seasons, the Cowboys’ disappointing 7-10 finish in 2024 and playoff absence paved the way for change.
Schottenheimer wasted no time setting the tone at his introductory press conference, where his measured approach caught attention.
His initial bold statement about winning “championships” highlighted a subtle but telling moment that revealed a leader who understands the weight of expectations.
“We’re gonna win, and we’re gonna win the championship. Otherwise, why are we doing it?” Schottenheimer said, via Action Network.

The Cowboys stand at +6500 odds to win the Super Bowl next season.
The head coaching role marks a significant milestone for Schottenheimer, as it’s been a long time coming.
His path to the job included interviews with six teams over the years.
Now, with a quarter-century of coaching experience, Schottenheimer’s dream has finally materialized, though at 51 years old not as the youngest coach he once aspired to be.
His recent interviews convinced Cowboys owner Jerry Jones he was the right choice to succeed McCarthy, despite the team considering other notable candidates like Kellen Moore, Robert Saleh and Leslie Frazier.
