When NFL fans talk about the Detroit Lions, the first thing they bring up could be the team’s offense.
The Lions’ offense continues to be one of the best in football, a unit that has several players who can make a major impact in every game.
Take Amon-Ra St. Brown, for instance, who just had a three-touchdown game against the Chicago Bears.
St. Brown is viewed as their WR1, but they have multiple pass-catchers who could put up similar stat lines if Jared Goff looked their way.
While the offense gets its props, and rightfully so, considering how well they’ve played for the past several seasons, the Lions’ defense has also gotten significantly better over the past two seasons.
The front office has made a lot of necessary changes to improve the unit’s outlook, which has led to an increase in efficiency and given their offense even more time on the field.
One of the best players on their defense is Brian Branch, who has been a force to be reckoned with since he came into the league.
The stats don’t lie, and as “The Detroit Times” recently noted on X, Branch is the first defensive back in league history to have at least 180 tackles, 25 defended passes, and seven interceptions in their first two seasons.
Insane: Brian Branch is the only DB in NFL history with 180+ tackles, 25+ PDs & 7+ INTs in his first 2 seasons ?

This is quite an accomplishment for the young DB, especially in the pass-happy league that the NFL has turned into.
The Lions’ defense needs to keep getting better as the year goes on, and they can’t rest on their laurels to this point.
As their Week 1 matchup with the Green Bay Packers highlighted, they might not be the best team in the NFC North, at least not this season, and will need to do whatever they can to catch up.
