The Los Angeles Rams seem to have found their new defensive superstar.
It’s unusual to go right from one to another, but they seem to have the formula.
Jared Verse picked up where he left off last season in Week 1 against the Houston Texans, and analyst Brian Baldinger showered him with praise.
“The whole league is on notice about Jared Verse, last year’s Defensive Rookie of the Year. He has just an incredible bull rush. His power is real, and you see it against a lot of different players. When you get a chance to double him, you do it. … It takes three sometimes to slow him down so that you can get rid of the football. It’s real. Everybody knows it. Everybody sees it on film. Better beware. That guy has got power on that rush,” Baldinger said.

The Rams’ defense took a massive hit when Aaron Donald retired last offseason.
Now, they have another menace, and he’s just getting started.
Of course, it’s still too early to compare Verse to a franchise legend and Super Bowl champion, but he’s definitely gotten off to an impressive start to his career.
Verse needs to tweak a couple of things and be a little more disciplined, but his power is almost impossible to contain.
The Rams have struck gold in the NFL Draft over and over, and they might have the most proficient scouting department in football, but they’ve also caught some breaks.
After watching Verse as a rookie, it’s hard to believe he fell to No. 19 overall in the 2024 draft.
Time will tell, but for now, it seems like plenty of teams made a huge mistake.
